Mountains melt into midst.
Pines lose their color in darkness.
Lonely lakes mirror shadows and clouds.
Grayness seems to take over the world
as if blues and greens never existed.
Depression is like that.
But despite the gloom,
the sun's still there.
It will show itself eventually,
revealing lively colors once again.

laughing and joking with me all night
deciding that we should call each other Fred and George
despite being female and not wizards
always a thank you, never a demand
she looked like she belonged at home
not like she found out yesterday she would
be beginning her fifth battle for her life
I told her she was a pleasure to care for
knowing I would probably never see her again
now hers is the only one of forty nine diagnoses
from that night I can still remember
