PAD countdown 28-1 elegy

Mom

Mom was a loving, busy sort.
She “redd up” houses just for sport.
I’m one of five girls, I  report.
Her time fell short, her time fell short.

She cleaned and cooked all through the year.
She mowed and gardened, hunted deer.
She soothed and calmed each daughter’s fear.
Her love shone clear, her love shone clear.

Black hair, red lips, she looked so fine.
Compassion, kindness all entwined.
I sure do miss that mom of mine.
The ties that bind, the ties that bind.

PAD countdown 27-3 magic

Spring Elves
(Minute)

The day’s so dreary birds won’t sing.
I sit and dream
and wish and think
while tea, I drink.

The calendar does promise spring.
But snow’s the thing.
I wonder how
will spring come now?

What magic will make spring appear?
Will elves dance here
and paint the scene
their art of green?

PAD countdown 27-2 magic

Childhood Magic
(Kyrielle)

I bundle up in my warm coat
And wrap my scarf around my throat.
I walk in snow, my mind replays
the magic of my childhood days.

All weather called us each outside.
And as I walk I feel alive.
And I’ll dream of, while the snow stays,
the magic of my childhood days.

We’d sled in winter, bike in spring.
In summer swim, fall leaves we’d fling.
We had our fun in many ways,
the magic of my childhood days.

PAD countdown 27-1 Magic

The Magic in My Life
(abracadabra)

I’m prone to live by fleeting fear and whim—
whatever feels right and good at the time.
The magic in my life is Jesus Christ.
With God, all things are possible in Him.
When loud emotions bump this way and that,
His Word will steady me when all seems grim.
My strength’s beyond what I can do myself.
When stresses of the day make life look dim,
He helps me see the reason and the rhyme.
The magic in my life is Jesus Christ.
With peace and joy, He fills me to the brim.

PAD countdown 26-6 Quiet

The Artist
(English Madrigal)

The artist paints the lake’s serenity.
He lingers to capture the last of light.

He works till he gets shapes and colors right.

Its secrets seem to be his destiny.
Thoughts wander deeply in the scene’s delight.
The artist paints the lake’s serenity.
He lingers to capture the last of light.

He holds his breath, he sees with clarity,
As colors turn to magic at the sight.
His eyes perceive more than most people’s might.
The artist paints the lake’s serenity.
He lingers to capture the last of light.
He works till he gets shapes and colors right.

PAD Countdown 26-5 quiet

Quiet Days
(lai)

Since he’s gone away,
It’s quiet all day.
No noise.
With nothing to say
Was loudly at play
With toys.
But he couldn’t stay.
So no more melee.
Past joys.
