Dream

Three in One to Vindication

(a dream)

I dreamed that there was a dispute

between my neighbors and my husband.

The daughter’s back was out of whack

and Hubby believed he could help her.

He insisted and wouldn’t leave them alone.

I talked with them and learned

that neither one wanted his help.

He continued to obsess about it.

So the next part was me preventing him

from going over to the neighbors’.

This all took place where I grew up

on Shannon Creed Road in PA.

For a while Hubby turned into

a man with developmental disabilities.

And I was trying to keep him in line

by holding him by the belt.

Then he turned into a young girl

who discovered an underground room

and passageway that the boys used

as some kind of club to terrorize the girls.

In the end, the young girl learned something

and presented it publicly and became a hero,

but I can’t remember what it was talked about.

I think it had to do with fixing back problems.

Genesis

Self-encouragement

(a Genesis)

The time is ticking away.

I’ll be headed to work soon,

When home is where I want to stay.

I can do this, I tell myself.

This is a mental game I play,

Singing a hopeful tune.

Found Poem

 Reading

(a found poem)

My reading life is always fabulous.

Develop your passion for books.

Read a book on blocks.

Study the rare ghost orchid.

There are so many books on dreaming,

creativity and the way artists work.

You have to dig deeper and deeper.

You may feel very dweeb-like.

One eye on content the other on form.

Get a timer. This really works!

Poetic Asides travel

Dream Travel

I dreamed I dated a super hero

they called Bear. His real name

was something simple like Andy.

He looked like the Incredible Hulk

except he wasn’t green, but brown.

He fought the evil villains of the world,

but had time to pick me up in his

car-sized space vehicle, our destination—

The North Star, but first, we had to meet

some of his friends, a woman super hero

with red hair, a handsome scientist

who ran the operation. Then back

in the jet-type rocket ship I worried

that I wouldn’t be back by 10 AM

to go shopping with my mother.

I told her that we were going for a ride,

but hadn’t mentioned the North Star.

I woke up then, smiling.

Poetic Asides slow down

 When Energy Goes Pop

(a florette)

Sometimes I feel the need to stop.

So into my green chair I flop.

I listen to music or read.

My ambition bubble indeed, ends in a pop.

And I might have a little snack,

Before to my work I go back.

Or I might watch a TV show.

At times I’ll write a poem when slow to get on track.

Poetic Bloomings anachronistic

Anachronistic

My son is a bit anachronistic.

When he was 8, he discovered old-time radio.

Someone had bought a set of cassettes

of the old shows for my mother:

Burnes & Allen, Fibber McGee & Molly,

Abbot & Costello, Jack Benney, Phil Harris,

Our Miss Brooks and the Bickersons.

Being homeschooled, we encouraged

him to follow his own bent.

He spent hours with the old comedians

and even had some of their routines memorized.

If you want to relive the old radio days,

talk to my son, he knows more about them

than the eighties when he grew up.

Poetic Asides Back to Blank

Back to Your Feet

I see your dusty feet

that walked miles

in crude sandals

to tell people what God

and His kingdom is like.

I see Your knees which knelt

as You told the Father,

“Not my will but Yours be done”

before You gave Your life

to pay for sins of humankind.

I put my hands

in Your scarred ones,

which healed the sick,

raised the dead

and made a whip

to drive out greed.

I put my fingers in your side

where the sword was thrust

and out came water and blood

from Your broken heart.

I lean against your chest

like John did,

asking who would betray You.

I look to your mouth,

which spoke words of love,

but also words that pierced

like a sword.

I gaze into Your eyes.

of compassion

that looked upon

an adulterous woman

and forgave her.

Eyes that stared at Peter

after the rooster crowed,

saying I knew you’d betray  me

but hang in there

the best is yet to come.

But I always

come back to your feet,

washing them with fragrant perfume

and drying them with my hair.

Poetic Asides Safe

Thankful for Safe Travels

I thank You Lord for keeping me secure

In the last three weeks, I’ve gone many miles

While basking in friends and relatives’ smiles

With one last drive from Phoenix to endure

And Lord I still want to travel some more

Visiting people whom I want to see

Going different places, feeling free

Thank You, Lord, for the adventures I’ve had

And for seeing babies for which I’m glad

Your protecting presence has been with me

Poetic Bloomings Heart

 Harvest of the Heart

The miles and miles

are like rows and rows

and the people I meet,

planters planting seeds:

hospitality, knowledge

kindness, humor, love,

adventure, fun, smiles

into my traveler’s heart

and I’m anticipating

a brilliant harvest.

Poetic Bloomings lend/borrow

On The Road Still

On the road again, I can’t wait to get on the road again. – Willie Nelson

Going places I’ve already been

Seeing faces I hope to see again

Except for going through Chicago

I can’t wait to get on the road again.

Poetic Bloomings and Poetic Asides Fast and slow, audio

 Fast and Slow, I Go

Barreling along I80 at 75

Praying the Lord will keep me alive

Creeping through construction at a slow pace

Thinking of the tortoise who won the race

Singing a hodge-podge of songs, I thrive

Poetic Bloomings exit

 Exits

In a few days I’ll be making my exit

from my small town in Colorado

which I’ve been so busy in

and leaving it all behind,

well most of it anyway.

I’ll still have writing assignments

I’ll be working on in my motel rooms.

From Wyoming, I’ll watch for the right  exits

along I80 and meet three sisters in Nebraska.

Then we’ll watch for more exits

until we meet our oldest sister,

whom we’re all going to see in Ohio

before she makes her final exit,

hopefully that’s not an exit

in the near future.

Maybe on the way back

I’ll meet a special poet friend.

Then I’ll exit that Colorado town once again

and retrieve my husband who I left

sweltering in Phoenix heat,

 of which he’ll gladly exit

for Colorado mountains.

Lord willing, of course.

Poetic Asides double

Seeing Double

I hate it when I see double,

Especially when it’s my chin.

Oh, to be young and thin!

But it wobbles like a bubble.

I’m so glad that scarves are in.

Rule #1

Forget about perfection.

Poetic Bloomings, elegy

Junior

(englyn cyrch)

A storm of sadness today

My friend puts her pet away

Her tears tumble down like rain

Through clouds of pain, we will pray

A dachshund, and a dear clown

Mostly black, a little brown

He would flop down at her feet

Him she would treat like a son

Poetic Bloomings Color

Color

(A duo-rhyme)

I love the colors of all kinds

They brighten souls and lift the minds

From passionate orange to bold blue

And violets of every hue

Some pinks and reds and scarlet, too

And greens and yellows, not a few

In color, lots of life one finds

They are God’s gift to humankind.

Dorsimba

 Starshine

(a Dorsimbra)

The stars shine brightly in the darkest night,

While love shines brightest through the darkest trials.

In gloom of  worldly chaos, shine your light.

What gives a father more delight than smiles?

Shine in darkness!

Shine in hopelessness!

Shine in perplexities!

Shine! Shine! Shine!

This life has its erratic highs and lows.

Compassion makes a difference in the walk.

So lend a helping hand to those in need.

The stars shine brightly in the darkest night.

Dizain

 Gifted

(a dizain)

The young man has no word, just sounds

He squeals and dances all about

The future of his peers—no bounds

Still smiles and plays with joyful shout

He’s happy like he is, no doubt

While others his age have their friends

On family, he just depends

He watches shows repeatedly

While lots of energy expends

And we love him increasingly

Poetic Asides summer

On the Road Again

(Diminished Hexaverse)

Summer has come at last

Colorado skips spring

From snowy days to heat

Not nearing furnace blast

But stay in the AC

Mornings and evenings out

Back doing yardwork

Perhaps a picnic

A hike on the trails

Alpaca shearing

A swim in the lake

Praying for rain

Planning a trip

See four sister

Will it happen?

Fly and drive

Lots of miles

I can’t wait.

To get

on the

road…

Diatelle

Non-scale Victories

(a diatelle)

Scales

don’t tell

the whole tale.

Numbers may rise

or down when things go well.

Look at other signs to be wise.

When steady with diet and exercise,

not only the scales say if one succeeds or fails.

It’s exciting when you go down in size.

But you may not believe your eyes

if you forget your belt.

What a surprise

that your pants fell.

Oh, well!

Tells.

Poetic Bloomings Sense

 A Sense of Humor

(A decuain)

A sense of humor lifts emotions high.

It even helps  when things go horribly wrong.

A hot-air balloon takes the heat to fly.

A troubled heart beats rhythmically to song.

And laughter lifts you up to make you strong.

To see the funny side sometimes is hard.

It may appear as years will drift along.

A lightened heart heals though it may be scarred.

A sense of humor lifts you to the sky.

It even helps when searching for the why.

Crystalline

Lazy Summer Day

(A Crystalline)

Leaves wave merrily in summer breeze

Overhead, cloud puffs drift along

The AC cranks out its cool air

I relax in my soft recliner

To-dos await, whispering warnings

I will answer them, though, not now

For lunch is settling in my tummy

And I am sipping my hot tea
