Poetic Asides Summer

Summer Fun

Summer sun leads us to fun
Stretching ourselves past limits
Coaxing slow muscles to run
Summer sun leads us to fun
Of course, after work is done
We find fun and get in it
Summer sun leads us to fun
Stretching ourselves past limits

Poetic Bloomings Coming and Going

Coming and Going

Coming and going, here and there
Busy about a summer day
It’s good to stop and say a prayer
Coming and going,  here and there
To have wisdom to live with flair
And grace as we go on our way
Coming and going,  here and there
Busy about a summer day

Poetic Blooming Poetic Exercise

Remind Me

A long walk, a hike, snow-shoeing, climbing
makes me feel alive. Someone one remind me
that when I’m indoors with chores or rhyming
I need some time outdoors to be happy.

There are things  I want, need or like to do.
Most days my to-do list’s filled end to end.
I aim to get things done all the way through.
There’s so many projects and tasks to tend.

While I’m inside a cool wind is blowing,
the sun is shining, the mountain calling,
bikes to be riding, boats to be rowing.
All of these, my projects are forestalling.

Someone remind me, in order to thrive,
to drop what I’m doing and play outside.

Poetic Asides on blank, Englyn Byr Cwca

On and On Come the Moths

Lilacs thrived, tulips  blazed, daffodils flamed
Proclaimed summer was near

Spring snow came, but not for long
Rain pounded, trees greened up, and rivers flowed
Drops forebode in their song

Lots of moths thrived even more
They flutter and tap, tap sounding like rain
Gain entrance through our door

Poetic Bloomings Imagination

Incongruous

When I was in elementary school,
adults would ask me if I liked it.
I said that I liked school but,
I liked summer vacation better.

The truth is, I’d sit at my desk
gazing out the window
imagining the fun things
I’d rather be doing.

It didn’t seem right to be indoors
when I could be exploring, building,
biking, pretending, playing amongst
fall colors, fun snow or spring puddles.

To me it seemed incongruous
that in order to be educated
you  had to do something stupid
like sit indoors on a nice day.
