For the Love of God
God had a problem. As Love, He wanted fellowship.
But the people He would create had to choose love or it wouldn’t be love.
They’d have to be imperfect. They would fail. As Holiness, He couldn’t look at
sin. Sin had to be punished. How could He love a sinful people?
God is Love. God is Holy.
He created Adam and Eve and walked among them,
but as expected, they failed Him. He raised up more people to tell His Story.
Noah’s life revealed the sinfulness of man and God’s ability to start His
relationship with people anew. Abraham’s almost slaying Isaac showed that God
would provide the sacrifice to pay for sin. Moses bringing Israel out of
Egypt’s bondage prophesied that God would provide a deliverer.
God is Love. God is Holy.
The Father provided Jesus to die on the cross.
The cross’s beams symbolize where love and holiness meet. As it says in John
3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV).
Jesus revealed God’s character. He called his disciples friends. He sent the
Holy Spirit to live right inside of imperfect believers. How awesome it is to
be a friend of God!
God is Love. God is Holy.
