Focus
I
remember one summer, as a child,
racing
back and forth barefoot,
between
my house, my cousins’
and
my neighbor’s hearing snatches
of
adult conversation, “Dog days.”
“Is
it hot enough for you?”
And
I thought, yes it’s hot.
I
hadn’t noticed. I was too busy
doing
all the things kids do in the summer.
Lord,
that’s what I want worship to be like.
So
focused on You that Your glory places
the
heat of the world’s cares in the background.
