Helping Out
Was heeding
advice, and tried to play nice,
But, alas, things do not always work out.
Thought it a winner, to help cook dinner.
I have had better ideas, no doubt.
The first thing I did, antique with a lid,
I dropped and sadly smashed it to pieces.
She tried to be kind, like she didn’t mind.
I’m not one of her favorite nieces.
But that wasn’t all, that happened to fall,
The thick turkey gravy fell with a splat.
“No worries, my dear,” she said with good cheer,
“It will prevent us from getting so fat.”
So I tell you I felt like no winner.
But to keep my pride, looked on the bright side,
At least, I helped all to remain thinner.
