Poetic Asides name

Lori Ann

When it came to pick a name for our first born,
we borrowed it from a little girl in our Sunday School Class
who was always eager to hear about Jesus, Loriann.

We didn’t feel it necessary for yet another name
so we had Lori Ann recorded on her birth certificate.
We called her Loriann up until she turned twelve

when she realized that her first name was Lori.
So no more Loriann, she made it clear
to all around that was not her name.

Still some people will call her Loriann,
but she refuses to respond to it.
So essentially, she named herself.

Poetic Asides englyn syrch, Poetic Bloomings party

Velcro Friends

I have friends so smart and fun
With laughs and smiles by the ton
Being with them is a must
After years, we’ve just begun

Personalities that click
Like Velcro we’re bound to stick
They chase the grumblies away
As they say, like thieves, we’re thick

So delighted when we greet
Here or there or on the street
We hug, joke and laugh again
Like we party when we meet

Poetic Asides Englyn Cyrch

Where I’m From

I am from hills, creeks and trees
From some bruises and skinned knees
From five cousins in a band
From sandwiches of sharp cheese

I am from Shannons and Hursts
From a time of many firsts
From red hair, freckles and curls
From five girls and their outbursts

I am from Alden and Pace
From past dangers boldly faced
From bedtime after praying
From meals after saying grace

Poem Away Mirror Cinqyain, Poetic Bloomings Favorites

But I Am Glad I Did Not Die Young

Heaven
Wonderful place
I know it in my bones
But I’m glad I did not die young
If not

for earth
its pain, darkness, and challenges
would I appreciate
the greatness of
Heaven?

Title from Daniel Paicopulos’ “Recollections”.

Poetic Bloomings straight line Tanks

Snow smushed lilacs. Just as well. I thought I was adventurous with my winter walk, but now I’ve got a cold. Can’t smell anything.
