First Line Poetic Bloomings

 The Scars

I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

No one likes to think about their Tod,

Time of death.

But we all know it will happen.

It’s happened all through history.

No one can deny it or escape it.

There were two, though, that did.

Enoch who was no more because God took him.

And Elijah who went up to God in whirlwind,

in or with a chariot of fire drawn by horses of fire.

Our Tod is when our religion is tested.

It’s no longer a list of dos and don’ts

Or rights and wrongs

Or churches or philosophies.

Is what we count on dependable

like Elijah’s whirlwind and chariot

to get us safely to the other side?

I believe Jesus is,

since He’s been there, done that,

got the scars.

accident Poetic Asides

It happened accidently on purpose

For a moment, it was quite a circus

On him, she spilled her drink

And who would ever think

That their meeting would be miraculous

Super power Poetic Bloomingss

 Super Powers

I’m an average person,

weak, fearful,

somewhat intelligent.

My super power

is putting my faith

in the real Super Hero

of my story,

plowing through life

meeting my struggles,

challenges,

adventures,

head on.

Blank is stronger than Blank Poetic Asides

 Hope is Stronger than Despair

Though despair can kill you,

Hope is stronger than despair.

Despair lasts a season, then bids adieu.

Though despair can kill you,

Hope can see you through.

Its endurance is beyond compare.

Though despair can kill you,

Hope is stronger than despair.

Background noise

 A Quiet Morning

It’s a relatively quiet morning

as I sit on my porch

watching the grass growing

and tiger lilies glowing in the sunshine.

A dove coos its four-part song,

bum ba ba bum.

If it was a poet, it would know

that it was trochee plus iamb.

A trochaic-chirping sparrow by the fence

waits for me to fill the birdfeeder.

A car crunches on gravel nearby,

reminding me to get ready for church.

I may as well write a poem

 My Get Up and Go

My get up and go, got up and went

I’m like a car stalled on the road

Can’t tell you how my time is spent

My get up and go, got up and went

Too much to do is my lament

I need someone to nag and goad

My get up and go, got up and went

I’m like a car stalled on the road
