The Mountain
Around a curve a
mountain sat
A curtain blocking out
the sky
Stark gray
Green tint upon a
closer look
Houses huddled on the
hillside
Lonesome
In the foreground lacy green trees
march up gravelly embankment.
Cheery
Baby blue sky peeks over top
Wisps of white crest like frothy waves
PristineWhite icing dribbled on bundt cake
Pleasing
Slate and copper mark the mountain
Looking bold and brave, and dauntingAgeless
So much beauty saddens the soul
I hop into the car, drive homeRegrets
But the valley holds warmth and peace
Safety and bustle of livingFriendship
