Poem Away Keats Sonnet, C

Temptation Calls

The chocolate candy tempted us that day
and we were carefully avoiding it,
creating stories did distract us, so

we came forgetting it and just to play.
With corn and fish for lunch, we did admit
the candy seemed to call us loud and clear.

And a big cupcake whispered soft and low.
Its thick cream filling had a lot to say.
But cantaloupe did not tempt us a bit.

We played canoe and watched the river flow.
We used the catalogue to wish, not hear.
We cradled dolls and thought, well that was that.

Eventually, confections disappeared.
When Mom came home we blamed it on the cat.
