That Little Boy
That little boy who used
to run
Through the house
Like a human tornado
Removing couch cushions,
Pitching glasses off the
table
And scattering his toys
hither to yon
That little boy that knew his
letters
And numbers before he was
two.
Could read in kindergarten
Wore a patchwork cloth
like Superman’s cape
Imagined all kinds of
stories
And could make us all laugh.
That little boy turned forty
today.
