Introduced to a New Feeling
I met an old friend of the
family
at another friend’s
yardsale.
He put his hand on my
shoulder,
looked me in the eye and
said,
“I’m sorry.” “What for?” I
asked.
I couldn’t imagine what he
had done
since I hadn’t seen him
for months.
“Your husband’s passing,”
he said.
“He didn’t” I said. “He’s
still alive.”
He was glad to get that straightened
out.
And I was introduced to
the feeling
of receiving sympathy for a
new widow.
