Splendor
Wreck of a hotel room
Rocking toilet
Torn carpet
Dirty bedspread
A rough sleep.
Hubby and I couldn’t get comfortable.
Son slept with the light on.
I kept waking up.
But a good breakfast,
eggs, sausage and toast
Packed up.
Son drove.
At the rest area.
Getting wheel chair out
wouldn’t be worth unpacking trunk.
Parked too far away.
Hubby was weak
and wore out.
Getting chair out
would have been worth it.
Arrived Lincoln about 530.
Hubby set up his “office”
in sister’s living room.
Sis fixed up bedroom for us.
Cousin Becca picked up Eli
I snapped a picture
of these lifelong friends.
They went to the fair.
We ate trip leftovers
and Judy’s watermelon
and cottage cheese.
Yummy
An elderly woman from our church called
She left a bowl of peaches
on our porch in Colorado.
“Nebraska! I’ll go get them!”
Quiddler with Judy.
Had to remember the rules.
Wishing we had Splendor
On its way with Little Sis
Little Sis’s flight was cancelled
Took hours to get one on standby.
She made it by midnight.
Her suitcase didn’t.
No Splendor.
Just the splendor
of having three of five
sisters together.
