Sweet Presence
Oh, there are times when all seems dark and grim.
My smile has trouble making its debut.
That’s when I focus all my thoughts on Him.
He is the One who always sees me through,
When I’m confused and don’t know what to do.
Each morning, it’s a hopeful way to start,
Committing plans into His hands anew.
The sweetness of His presence fills my heart.
At times, I bring to Him my needs and wants,
Just like a child’s long detailed Christmas scroll.
But then His Spirit tenderly confronts,
And He reminds me of the greater goal,
That He is ultimately in control.
So I forget about what’s in my cart,
And ask Him to complete and make me whole.
The sweetness of His presence fills my heart.
We are created by a loving God,
Who so desires fellowship with us.
Since Adam fell, the human race is flawed.
Our sins against Him are most treasonous.
Our wants and needs then stand superfluous.
So Jesus paid the price. We have a part,
Depend on His great sacrifice, we must.
The sweetness of His presence fills my heart.
Relationship’s restored in Him, we trust.
He promises He never will depart.
When we believe in Jesus, we are just.
The sweetness of His presence fills my heart.
