When Blank Poetic Asides

 When Hiking Through the Canyon

When hiking through the canyon

With fifteen girls and boys,

We scared the bears away

With our clamorous noise.

We tapped along with walking sticks,

They had made themselves.

They had been busy painting

Like Santa’s little elves.

We were learning about bees,

And looking for their nests.

We walked about a mile in,

A good endurance test.

They pointed out the holes

That bees might make their homes.

They smiled and we snapped pics

With our camera/cell phones.

On the way back to the center,

Some boys saw a snake.

It scurried into a hole.

Their screams were not fake.

We made it back to the center

Just in time for lunch.

 Very tired from the hike,

But not too tired to munch.
