We lost nine hours,
so it was around lunchtime.
My sister arrived in Paris
before me in a distant terminal.
It took us a while to find each other,
sending texts back and forth.
What a relief to spot her smiling
face.
We had our first experience
with a Paris train
and being hustled
by a taxi driver.
Uncomfortable with him,
we chose a different taxi.
In our cute apartment,
I claimed the living room
with a sleeper sofa
and a desk.
Sis had the bedroom,
but kept stubbing her toe
on a protruding bed piece.
Two patios. From one,
you can see the Eiffel Tower.
Rested out on the patio
in sunny weather.
Dinner at a very authentic
French restaurant.
The owner was kind and cheery,
and didn’t speak a bit of English.
We communicated, sort of,
through Google Translate.
At a little market,
we bought some groceries,
carrying as much as we could
in our tote bags.
Electrical adaptors.
Out of the six we had,
none of them worked.
Fortunately, our Airbnb host
had a piece in the desk drawer
that fit with one of mine.
Relieved, we charged our gadgets.
Unable to get online,
our host said to check the router
which was to the left of the toilet.
We looked by the toilet, no router.
Later, we realized,
he referred to the whole bathroom
as the toilet, and the router was to
the left.
Fortunately, the problem fixed itself,
preventing us the embarrassment
of telling the host,
“There’s only a toilet brush
to the left of the toilet.”
