Mountains and pines point up

past glowing, billowy clouds

Moonrise
 

The moon

bathed in murky blue

rested on frosted

tips of pines,

lending light

to a wooded haven

keeping Alaskan secrets.

Eternally Extravagant  

The humped-back grizzly

wades out into a stream
to catch its breakfast with only bluish
snow-capped mountains watching.
God pours out his extravagance
in His creation
and, through Jesus,
His love.

Tending Roots

Wanderlust

thrives on starting over again—
frequent moves,
new friends, goals and plans,
adventure.

The difficulty

lies in staying put,
plodding, plugging away—
same people, places,
to-do lists.

Creativity breeds newness

like colorful bark
on a rainbow eucalyptus tree—
always changing, always beautiful,
always rooted.

In a Cabin 

Lone star in inky sky

Tiny cabin, thick snowy roof
Square yellow lights—
window and on white ground
Tall thin pine silhouettes
Distant edge of white rugged mountain
Two smoke-like wisps of Aurora Borealis
Souls kept in comfort and fear
from grand beauty and adventure.

The Alaskan sun peeked

over the edge of the frozen lake,
casting a pink on blue glow.

Scraggly tree silhouettes

stood around
like parents of ice skaters.

A piper plane sat nose tilted up,

a disoriented dragonfly
wondering where warmth went.
