Poetic Bloomings A Toast

A Toast in the Garden

Here’s to the poets in the garden
Whose hearts are soft and will not harden
May your words produce encouragement and strength
And understanding to height, width and length
Of all that is good and all that is true
And the love He has for me and you
And may He bless you abundantly and free
As you have been a blessing to me.

Poetic Bloomings Rime Couee

Grandma Envy

I suffer from grandma envy
I’d love grandkids, one to twenty
Six or seven would be plenty
My kids adopted cats
So I’ll enjoy my grandkitties
And hope I won’t go bats

Poetic Blooming Epithalamium

Matchmaking or Muse

Some say I have a knack
To see who belongs with who
If writing poems fail me
Matchmaking might do

Yes, I’m good at guessing
Sometime I know the fit
Before the happy couples
Both discover it

But there have been times
That I’ve shaken my head no
And that marriage has lasted
Thirty years or so

And there are times
I was sure it was true love
But the couple tore apart
Like an unraveled glove

So I’ll stick to writing
Hang up my matchmaking hat
Because me and my muse
Make a better pair than that

Poetic Bloomings Gift for Santa

A Gift for Santa

I think that Santa would get tired of red,
From when he rises to when he’s in bed.
A gift I would give him? New Santa suits,
From his dangly hat clear down to his boots.
Not red, but blue and orange and green instead.

Poetic Asides exploration

Colorado in Detail

I’d like to explore Colorado in detail.
I’ve zipped by the signs and arrows,
as I traveled to faraway places.
Multitude of campsites.
Lakes hidden away on mountain tops.
Flowing waterfalls few see.
Hot springs in various colors.
Saharan-like sand dunes.
Sprawling fairy-tale castles.
Canyons, spires and arches.
Starry nights on open plains
Rides on the highest cog train
High highway home to bighorn sheep.
Ancient Native American ruins
Some summer I’ll take the time
to follow the signs and arrows.

Poetic Asides Survey

Survey

“Do you want to take a survey?”
The voice over the phone asks.
“It will only take a minute.
Your opinion is important,”

The voice over the phone asks.
Uninvited and annoying.
He begins and I answer.

It will only take a minute?
He lied through his teeth.
Minutes tick, blood pressure rises.

Your opinion is important.
My time’s much more important.
No, I don’t want to take a survey.
