Rhyme Royal

 The Woman at the Well

The woman at the well did not suspect

Her life would change dramatically that day.

When Jesus came she’d no time to reflect.

She was surprised at what He had to say.

He knew how many times she’d gone astray.

He offered her a living water drink.

She didn’t care what others had to think.

Bref Double

 An Evening by the Lake

Along this pebbled path I walk

And glimpse the reeds that guard the lake.

Continue on, I’m at the edge.

I fling a pebble through the air.

I watch it skip, one two, three times.

A blue jay flies by with a squawk.

Cast off my shoes to cool my toes.

I see some minnows wiggling there.

I have no need for phone or clock.

The setting sun is colored pink.

I watch a row boat reach the dock.

I will return, I make a pledge.

A fisherman stops by to talk.

A beautiful day, we allege.

Community Poetic Asides #3

Plane Community

Plane, temporary

Small community

Sharing the same goal

From here to go there

In time that we share

To arrive all well and whole

Despite kicks in back

Or head in the lap

Despite having to get up

To let seatmates by

Despite baby’s cry

Despite a tipped soda cup

And then we are blessed

When seatmate’s the best

And we chat all through the flight

Emails are exchanged

Seems highly arranged

And everything works out right

Bye temporary

Small community

We somehow have reached our goal

Flown from there to here

Now be of good cheer

We arrived all well and whole

In love

 Community

O pen our hearts to one another.

M ay we build each other up.

M ay we accept each other as we are, in

U nderstanding, compassion and wisdom,

N ot bossing each other about, but

I nspiring one another to be our best version,

T oday and in the future. Let

Y esterdays be to learn from and treasure.

La'Tuin

 Seasoned

Mornings grow progressively colder

Leaves tinge yellow on the bushes

Trees begin to don brilliant colors

Sun, with shortened time, shines bolder

Kids fling their backpacks over shoulder

Desires pull, while learning pushes

Earthy smell of fallen leaves allures

Piles nearby begin to smolder

The winter dread forms since we’re older

Old folks tend to sit on tushes

Winter paints things a little duller

Extra weight acts as a scolder

Mornings grow progressively colder

Leaves tinge yellow on the bushes

Trees begin to don brilliant colors

Sun, with shortened time, shines bolder

Cosmos Poetic Bloomings

 James Webb Telescope

James Webb Telescope,

peers into the past.

Not the future.

But what does God see?

God knows the future.

Revelation, written thousands of years ago,

predicts what were once impossibilities,

now reality.

And some yet to happen.

Is time not something here but gone,

but more like a highway

one can go back and forth on?

God sees the whole highway.

It boggles the mind.
