A Little Lune-y
Here’s a little lune
Hmm, hmm, hmm
Sing a little tune
A little lazy
Hmm, hmm, hmm
And perhaps crazy
It’s not quite a tome
Hmm, hmm, hmm
While I rest at home

Alphabet Prayer
I offer adoration to You, Lord.
Strengthen my belief in who You are.
Confessions clear the air between You and me.
I need Your direction that I may go far.
Encouragement, too, for this journey,
Faith to see beyond what my eyes see,
Grace that enables me to do Your will.
I need Your help to set me free.
Thanks for Your intervention on my behalf,
Your ability to make things just and right,
Let Your Kindness flow throw me to others.
May Your unconditional love be my light.
Lord, stir me with Your motivation,
And feed me nutrition of the soul.
Open Your ways before me.
Grant me power and make me whole.
Let quietness calm my spirit,
Divine romance be my joy.
Let Your Spirit sustain me.
Your truth may I employ.
May understanding be my foundation.
That I may learn to walk in victory.
May I live by Your Word,
Your excitement for all to see.
May youthfulness strengthen as I age.
And may Your zeal move me to engage.
Haboobs
When I see pictures of haboobs on the news,
those giant walls of dust blowing through before a storm,
I pray for the drivers that may be on the road at the time,
especially two drivers in particular,
my son and daughter.
At least, my daughter’s no longer in Louisiana
dwelling among the hurricanes.
Always something to keep this mama praying.
Walls
W alls are dividers
A lways there making things clear
L etting life be sorted out
L etting life function more easily
S eemingly quenching freedom, but actually enabling it.
From this Side of my Skin
I had a weird thought.
Weird for me.
I usually beat myself up
for all of the dumb things I’ve done,
or the smart things I haven’t done.
The failures, mistakes, and messes
for the past sixty-six years.
A thought came uninvited,
out of the blue,
“I am an amazing person.”
If I keep my eye on the positives,
like sorting out quarters
from a barrelful of change,
Yes, I am amazing!
The challenges I’ve faced,
the people I’ve cared for
and the ones who cared for me.
Getting to know God and His people.
My experiences and adventures.
My hobbies and talents.
My accomplishments
The jobs I’ve had.
My travels.
Being married to the same man
for forty-five years through thick and thin.
Raising and homeschooling our two kids.
Graduating from college at 59.
Writing millions of words, some published.
Writing a poem a day for over twenty years.
Yes, I’m pretty amazing!
But I look around at my husband, my kids,
my sisters, my friends, everyone.
All those stories!
They’re pretty amazing, too.
