Poetic Asides wordle colossal, flat, husky, muse, scheme, transfer

Getting it Done

Colossal ideas
fall flat
unless with husky determination
the fragile muse musters
courage to continue
with the scheme,
transferring plans to action.

Poetic Asides Double

Seeing Double

One dark and rainy day,
my next-up sister and I
were driving out and about.

We stopped at a fast-food place
and the employee who took our order
stared at us in confusion.

Instead of asking, “May I help you?”
She blurted out, “Are you twins?”
People often said I resembled my sister..

We looked at each other and realized
we wore the same color and type of jackets,
with our hair pulled back in ponytails.

Because it was raining, her red hair
and my brown hair appeared similar.
The girl must have though she was seeing double.

Poem Away Insane Cinquain, Poetic Blooming determination

Stick-to-it-ness

I persevere.
Keep on and on with grit.
Dogged, persistent,
I’m a writing musketeer.
With goal in mind, I stick to it.

What makes me continue like this?
To keep going through the days?
Why so resolute?
Determined not to miss?
I trust it pays.

Poem Away Crapsey Quintain

Let’s try
Crapsey quintains
But pretty Adelaide,
I think, would be a better name
Oh, well.

Poetic Asides language

Language

L ingos linger bringing memories,
A n idiom can confuse in these.
N orth-eastern dialects drop the ars,
G iving tongues a rest or pause.
U rban vernacular may be fun to hear,
A s well as any argot in the ear.
G rowing jargons from group to group,
E ncourage patois, so that’s the scoop.

PB ambition triquint

Ambition

I aim to do good and do it well.
But things aren’t clear as a bell
My goal’s to excel
And not fail
How?

Lord, I need ambition to propel
Something in me to compel
My goal’s to excel
And not fail
Now

So let Your Holy Spirit indwell
And help me not to rebel
My goal’s to excel
And not fail
Wow!

Poetic Asides fair

At the County Fair

My friend and I, age thirteen,
went to a county fair.
We gawked at crafts,
canned goods, sheep,
rabbits and cows.

We watched
as one cow gave birth,
and only hours later,
we saw the calf take
its first steps.

I also stared
at a group of people
who looked different than most.
I learned they had
developmental disabilities.

I had no idea
I was seeing
my future occupation.
You never know what you’ll
encounter at the county fair.
