Friday August 18 Lake Geneva Trip

 Splendor

Wreck of a hotel room

Rocking toilet

Torn carpet

Dirty bedspread

A rough sleep.

Hubby and I couldn’t get comfortable.

Son slept with the light on.

I kept waking up.

But a good breakfast,

eggs, sausage and toast

Packed up.

Son drove.

At the rest area.

Getting wheel chair out

wouldn’t be worth unpacking trunk.

Parked too far away.

Hubby was weak

and wore out.

Getting chair out

would have been worth it.

Arrived Lincoln about 530.

Hubby set up his “office”

in sister’s living room.

Sis fixed up bedroom for us.

Cousin Becca picked up Eli

I snapped a picture

of these lifelong friends.

They went to the fair.

We ate trip leftovers

and Judy’s watermelon

and cottage cheese.

Yummy

An elderly woman from our church called

She left a bowl of peaches

on our porch in Colorado.

“Nebraska! I’ll go get them!”

Quiddler with Judy.

Had to remember the rules.

Wishing we had Splendor

On its way with Little Sis

Little Sis’s flight was cancelled

Took hours to get one on standby.

She made it by midnight.

Her suitcase didn’t.

No Splendor.

Just the splendor

of having three of five

sisters together.

flashback Poetic Asides

 Teens

Coming of age

with its feelings,

up and down

Discovering life

Experimenting

Searching

Exploring

Making mistakes

Learning

Growing

Grieving, laughing

Sometimes simultaneously

Wondering if you’re the only one

Glad when you find you’re not

Camaraderie of best friends

Yes, we’ll make it!

Finding that sixties

are about the same.

autumn change Poetic Bloomings

The Artist Speaks

God speaks to us by autumn’s bright display
With vibrant colors rising off the charts
So may we hear by faith and seeking hearts

An Artist with some loving things to say
A simple green canvas is where He starts
God speaks to us by autumn’s bright display

The change is subtle, like an evening play
He chooses who will play the needed parts
So may we hear by faith and seeking hearts

The colors grow more vibrant every day
Till peak is reached, then each brown leaf departs
God speaks to us by autumn’s bright display

And even though we’d like the fall to stay
So soon the wintery weather has its starts
So may we hear by faith and seeking hearts

Through Seasons of our lives He shows the way

The Lord our God is master of the Arts

God speaks to us by autumn’s bright display

So may we hear by faith and seeking hearts

restless Poetic Asides

 The Next One

Finishing up a trip.

To Wisconsin, we did roam.

A thousand more miles,

and soon we will be home.

But it won’t be long,

when I’m folding up my clothes,

I’ll get that restless feeling

that starts down in my toes.

My suitcase will be calling

to put my clothes in there.

An adventure awaits,

but now, I don’t know where.

Goodbye Poetic Bloomings

Family Reunion Concludes

Goodbye, Lake Geneva

My family had fun here

So soon we’re leaving ya

Goodbye Lake Geneva

Family, we’ll be seeing ya

I’ll try not to shed a tear

Goodbye, Lake Geneva

My family had fun here

apology Poetic Bloomings

Family Reunion

Sorry, I haven’t been writing.

This may be exciting.
Poeming from my headtop.
Keep on going till I stop.
Riding down the highway
Somewhere in Ioway.
Headed toward a Wisconsin lake.
How much time will it take?
With five hours down, four to go,
Some are fast and some are slow.
Four carloads of Shannon clan
With 3 folks coming in by plane.
Keeping track with family Whatsapp
GPS and a Google map.
“Where are you?” I asked Sis, who is sly.
“Just passed a cornfield,” was her reply.
