Ennui
I would like to have someone adore me.
I know the Invisible One does.
He whispers His sweet everythings so tenderly.
I feel His embrace, but I desire someone with skin on.
Left up to my choice, I’d like someone I can see.
I need to focus, get rid of my brain fuzz.
I think of favorite colors: purple, blue, orange, snow pea.
At a glance, colors give me a buzz,
But not like romance on the sea.
I think of water lilies on a pond,
The sound of breeze whooshing gently.
I pencil in my thoughts just because.
My thoughts tumble about indiscriminately,
And lay claim on what at one time was.
The wings of my dreams fly merrily
Over an open field of memories, of which I’m fond.
A horse of a thought, ready to flee—
To be content in God’s love and then my wants He undoes.
