Poetic Bloomings Resolve for poetry

Wedding Vows to My Muse

My darling Muse,

I promise

to nurture you through the bread of the Word

and wine of the Spirit.

I promise

to strengthen you by reading works of other poets

and poetry how-to books (including doing the exercises)

and continuing to write a poem a day.

I promise to

make you happy

by increasing my skills

in the use of metaphor, details, meter and rhyme.

I promise

to strengthen our social life as a couple

by participating on poetry blogs and challenges

and by helping and encouraging friends through poetry.

I promise

to not hold you back,

by publishing poetry books and

submitting poems to magazines and journals.

This I promise, for better or worse, in 2013.

Winter Day

Snow is falling
Let’s go malling
Cold’s appalling
Quit your stalling
And your bawling
Hot chocolate’s calling

Friday December 28, 2012 Monchielle

Grace is a Super Cape (Monchielle)

Grace is a super cape

God gives those who believe

Though they’re undeserving

Meaning well but failing

And unfit for serving

Grace is a super cape

Empowers one to serve

To love, to be, to give

To walk with the Lord God

To grow, to learn, to live

Grace is a super cape

Makes spiritual eyes see

And ears to hear Him speak

Loosens lips to speak truth

And gives strength to the weak

Grace is a super cape

Given to help one fly

Above grave circumstance

Or float on troubled sea

Freeing the heart to dance

Cat and Mouse (Minnesang)

He lusts, his body burns afire

Her beauty fills his heart with pain

Her smile sends shock waves to his brain

He thinks one touch is all he needs

The problem is how to inspire

He spends days coming up with ways to earn her desire

He clearly desires to meet her

His pain shows plainly on his face

He hangs for days about her place

He bugs her like persistent fly

He leers as if he would eat her

She runs for fear he would undoubtedly defeat her

Morning Bustle

Tea in the microwave
Bread in the toaster
Eggs in the pan
Milk in the microwave
Him in his chair
Her wheeled in place
Sausage in the microwave
Butter on the toast
Sliced banana on the plate
Milk in the microwave
Toast in his mouth
Cut up the sausage
Bell goes off
What’s in the microwave?

Poetic Bloomings Vision of Sugar Plums / Loop Poem

Christmas Memories

Snowflakes
Snowflakes, twinkling Christmas lights

A huge painted Santa with hand up in a wave
Wave to friends and family, smiles they gave

Presents and farm set under the tree
Tree, the best ever
Evergreen straight from the yard
Yard filled with snow

Bare feet run in anticipation
Anticipation of celebration

Children up before dawn
Dawn arrives, parents yawn

A flurry of paper and glad cries
Cries of delight
Delight entwined with peace
Peace like a blanket of snow

Twinkling lights, turkey smells
Smells and sounds of jingle bells

Snow falling in hills and trees
Trees, evergreen memories

Poetic Asides Fictionalized True Event

I’m Still Here

I loved the feeling of flying
down twisty-turny tree-lined roads,
soaring fifty in town, 110 highway.
I trusted my boyfriend's driving completely,

until one day the trees entwined
with sky and road as we
tumbled and tossed
and then thunk.

And I saw cheery light,
heard celebratory music,
smelled something sweeter than lilacs
and heard a voice I recognized.

THE Voice
He said I needed to go back to raise my family.
“I don’t have a family,” I said.
“You will.”

“I want to stay.”
“You have to go back,
for now,
but you will return.”

And then, oh well,  I was back,
a marvel to the doctors and nurses.
I raised my family.
And I’m still here.

The extravagance
of the season, embodied
God wrapped in infant

--Marie Elena Good

Christmas Gift

A seed, a cell, a tear drop
Wonders abound in the small

What is life’s meaning?
People ponder their purpose
Clueless they live on

Busy being and doing
Stuck on life's conveyer belt

 All eternity
Life, promise, joy, forgiveness
An invitation

Omnipresence makes the way
Becoming like His beloved

There once was a boy named Eli
Who wanted to learn how to fly high
He made himself wings
Out of all kinds of things
And soon took off into blue sky

December 19, 2012 limerick

There once was a girl named Lori
Who wanted me to tell her a story
So I tucked her in bed
Turned out the light overhead
And we lived my old days of glory

Genesis

Spirit Whispers

In a land of mystery
The sky is midnight blue
A voice sounds through history
Come and sing and dance!
Bring me your misery
It’s time for joy’s debut

The feelings come mistily
Wondering what to do
Bitterness burns blistery
But I’ve got to take my chance!
So I step out gingerly
Reaching out for You

Forgiveness comes lavishly
Acts of love ensue
Freedom bursts spontaneously
In divine romance!
Abundant life comes vividly
I will not bid adieu

Poetic Bloomings Celebration

O Come All Ye Faithful

O come let us adore Him in the manger bed
From his glorious home to a stable shed
Humbly among animals, laying in the hay
Shepherds, kings, virgin and carpenter say
O come let us adore Him

There He is teaching, declaring what God said
There He’s on the cross, hanging till He’s dead

Then rising from the tomb, showing us the way
O come let us adore Him

As He leaves, His promise, of what lies ahead
Make sure the poor are clothed and the hungry fed
You worship me in how you obey
I’ll be right beside you as you pray
Love others in the way I have led
O come let us adore Him

Etheree

God
Come close
I need You
We all need you
Lord, hear our grieving
Our confusion and pain
Reach out with Your nail-scarred hands
Embrace us with Your compassion
Hold us close, let us hear Your heartbeat.
Help this world not reject its only hope.

In the wee hours of the night
He covers me with a quilt
His love becomes real

Dizain

Good Morning, God
This morning I arise to worship You
I praise Your name before I plan my day
You’re good and holy, pure, loving and true
I need You in my life to show the way
Please, help me hear Your lovely voice, I pray
Open my eyes to see Your tender face
And may I be empowered by Your grace
Grant me a heart of flesh instead of stone
And make me worthy in this time and space
Thank You, that in this life I’m not alone

Poetic Asides Number Poem Poetic Bloomings Trochee

Eight

One is for the shining star

Over Bethlehem

Two is for His virgin mom

And her precious lamb

Three is for the Trinity

Father, Son, and Ghost

Four is for the Angel’s song

Holy Heav’nly Host

Five is for the carpenter

And his virgin wife

And the wise men from the East

Searching for the Life

Six is for the animals

Eating manger hay

Seven’s for a place to rest

On the Sabbath day

Eight is for the shepherd men

And the sheep they kept

And left to hurry on to see

Where the baby slept

Unwelcome Visitor

You hideous monster come skulking now
Attacking me with runny nose and cough
I feel like you’ve upturned me with a plough
I’d like to turn infernal nose drip off
And there you dare to sneer, poke fun and scoff
I’ll call the doc to see what she can do
And so you nuisance cold I say, “Back off!”
O, dissipate just like the morning dew!
May antibiotics punch you, kerpow!
Your days are numbered, this I surely vow

Poetic Asides Rondel Poetic Bloomings common expression

The Party’s Started (Rondel)

“The party’s started,” this I say

When the household begins to rise

“Time to get up” the phrase implies

“Like it or not, let’s start the day!”

A bit sarcastic is my way

Knowing our life tends to surprise

When the household begins to rise

“The party’s started,” this I say

Let there be laughter, come what may

Though sleep’s sand still rests in our eyes

There will be music, if we’re wise

Eating, dancing, singing and play

“The party’s started,” this I say

Capacity
Shelves, closets, cupboards
Filled with thousands of items.
How did each one come,
And I allowed it?
It’s time to clear the clutter,
But schedule’s full, too.

Carpe Diem/Cento

Today, I Lived for Today (Carpe Dien/Cento)

The present is too much for the senses, too crowding, too confusing
I don’t know where your youth or beauty might wander now
Each second lost will cost you a lot
In delay there lies no plenty
Seize the day, use it well
Snatch each moment of the day
It is a unique day today
Today is life and life is today
Let everyday be something special, without wishes of something different
Linger and breathe not where there is no fun to be had

Others and Hope

Love Jesus

Love others

Others hurt

Others care

Care for the lonely

Care for the weak

Weak and needy

Weak and sick

Sick in body

Sick in soul

Soul hunger

Soul thirst

Thirst for righteousness

Thirst for the Holy Sprit

Spirit says come

Spirit and truth

Truth reaches out

Truth sets you free

Free indeed

Free to serve

Serve in love

Serve in joy

Joy to the world

Joy is a choice

Choice of love

Choice of hope

Hope in God

Hope in the eternal

Eternal life

Eternal home

Home grown

Home in heaven

Heaven waits

Heaven calls

Calls to the Lord

Calls will be heard

Heard in secret

Heard by God

God gives mercy

God gives grace

Grace enables

Grace strengthens

Strengthens in spirit

Strengthens in resolve

Resolve differences

Resolve in peace

Peace in hearts

Peace in forgiveness

Forgiveness

Hearts
