Cascade

December 30th

Twenty- twenty-five is wrapping up

It’s been mostly a satisfying year

Except for some unmet goals

Christmas decorations, still up

Daughter’s birthday celebrated

Twenty-twenty-five is wrapping up

A deeper relationship with God

Enjoyable times with friends and family

It’s been mostly a satisfying year

Three trips, two part-time jobs

Continue with my writing,

Except for some unmet goals

Birthday acrostic

Happy Birthday, Rebecca

Happy birthday, Rebecca, may

All your days be bright

Peaceful, hopeful, full of

Power and might

You are a dear friend, a fine hiking

Buddy. We hike the trails together.

Interesting when it’s muddy

Remember all the fun

Times up montains and

Hills.  Spending the

Days, sometimes with spills.

Always look to Him who keeps

You in His care,

Remembering

Emanual who is always there.

B e blessed, dear sister

Especially on your day,

Creating happy memories

Cheerful all the way

And with happiness to stay.

beginning Poetic Bloomings

Hello Friend

Today marks the 44th anniversary

of a wonderful beginning.

I remember in the middle of the night

looking into two dark steely eyes

and saying, “Hello friend.”

Oh, we’ve had our ups and downs,

like all mothers and daughters do.

But we remain friends.

Look Up

When mood is down and skies are gray,

Sometimes the Lord seems far away.

So look up, remember the great, bright sun,

And the One who is light.

Bref Double

A Quiet Christmas Day

I used to long for quiet Christmas day,

And now that it’s here, is this what I like?

Just hubby and me with a few wrapped gifts,

A big turkey meal, leftovers galore.

Phone calls and texts to family and friends,

Not much for going out, at home we stay.

Watching Netflix shows in my easy chair,

A long walk knowing the dessert in store.

Working a puzzle, the game that I play,

Eating cake and ice cream, I forgot pie.

Thanking God for baby in manger hay,

Remembering the past of high snow drifts.

And those noisy days seem so far away,

But I like quiet days, my spirit lifts.

The Bop

Vitrectomy

So I was on my way home from Breckenridge

Where I had attended training for a nature center.

Driving home something like a fat, black worm

Started coming down from the top left corner of my eye.

I had been warned this might happen.

My retina was detaching and it was the weekend.

Four days later I had surgery on my left eye.

I was told that they had put an oil bubble in,

And it would have to be removed later.

My vision was bad in that eye, but I could see a bit.

Driving was a trick, at times I saw double.

As I waited for the second eye surgery,

the pain, itching, watering cleared up.

Four months later, the bubble was removed.

I didn’t expect it to be as bad as the first.

It was like looking through a shower door.

I could see light and shadows in that eye.

The whole left side of my face hurt.

Thoughts assailed, What if it doesn’t get better?

Ten days in, seeing more movement gives me hope.

winter, Poetic Asides, triolet

 Winter Wonderland

It’s a winter wonderland,

We wonder where the snow went.

Has the white stuff been banned?

It’s a winter wonderland.

I may lie out and get tanned.

With a brown Christmas, I’m content.

It’s a winter wonderland,

We wonder where the snow went.

God is Great

God is great

And He will see me through

I trust His grace, not fate

His promises are true

So I anticipate

Future gifts

From a merciful God

He provides spirit lifts

Though we humans are flawed

So no buts, ands or ifs

He is hope

No reason to be down

Our faith is like a rope

Manifests grace around

So in Him we can cope

The Link

The basis of my being me

That is a tough one let me think

That may be one for Socrates

Cannot define within a wink

The Lord, made humans for His joy

It’s written in the ancient ink

Sin separates and blocks that joy

And Christ alone’s the bonding link

Alignment

It’s easy, Lord, to go astray.

My mind will wander off the path.

I know Your way is the best way.

I don’t want to deserve Your wrath.

My thoughts require a cleansing bath,

To disinfect spiritual sores.

I fall short when I do the math.

Align my heart and mind with Yours.

The devil steals, destroys and kills,

Accuses Your daughters and sons.

Your Spirit gives, builds up and heals,

Encourages Your faithful ones.

When we’re near You, the devil runs.

You stand against the bully’s scores,

And You outweigh him by the tons.

Align my heart and mind with Yours.

You, Lord, desire the best for me.

You lead me where I hope and thrive.

When You control, I am set free.

In You I’m healed, fully alive.

In You, I need not strain and strive.

Please, guide me to Your open doors,

Until in Heaven I arrive.

Align my heart and mind with Yours.

I worship You, my Lord and King.

You are the One who wins my wars.

Majestic One, I praise and sing.

Align my heart and mind with Yours.

I am, Poetic Bloomings, I am from...

I AM From…

I am from Pennsylvania, where trees, hills, creeks, lakes and rivers abound. Born number four of five sisters, I am from a house knit together in love, honesty and hard work. I was raised by a hard-working and giving mom and a hard-working and honest dad who loved hunting and fishing. I am from being raised on home-grown veggies, fruit and nuts, deer, rabbit, squirrel, and fish. I am from a neighborhood of many relatives. I’m from being outdoors all day long in our country valley playing with cousins, sisters and neighbors. I am from walks in rain in the spring, wiener roasts and bare feet in the summer, jumping in leaves in the autumn, sliding down long hills in the winter. I am from an extended-family celebration on Christmas Eve honoring Pappap’s birthday as well as the birth of Christ. I’m from a small school in a small town with a graduating class of 110. I’m from reading poetry, Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden. I’m from watching Man from Uncle, Gilligan’s Island and Dick Van Dyke. I’m from a church startup in our neck of the woods. I’m from dating since I was thirteen, one guy for four years that drove 110 mph on curvy roads. I’m from summer vacations in Delaware and venturing forth in travels to Michigan to visit more cousins, Wyoming with my sister, and down in the southern states with the church choir. I’m from marrying into a Wyoming family, having two children Colorado raised and homeschooled. I’m from traveling with my husband and kids and sisters to all fifty states, and several countries in four continents. I’m from over forty years of creative writing, often published. I’m from graduating from college when I was fifty-nine. I’m from a place where the roots of faith in Jesus go deep, a place of eternal hope.

I am Poetic Bloomings, ae freislighe

The Plumbline

Designed by my Creator,

To love Him, I am inclined.

His Spirit my translator,

But with free choice I’m designed.

 Sometimes I am defiant  ,

And fall a bit off plumbline.

On His grace I’m reliant,

And I am centered, sometimes.

Abstract/sound poem

Mermaids

Mermaids swimming out in sea

Loving what it is to be free

Romping, playing, laughing in glee

Reveling in hidden beauty

Glistening angel fish swimming by

Razor fish waving side by side

Dolphins and marlin leaping high

Living in wonder to the eye

Plants adding color to their home

Purples, reds, yellows as they roam

Rainbow-leaf seaweed shines like chrome

Lovely and wonderful biome

Mermaids swimming out in sea

Loving what it is to be free

Romping, playing, laughing in glee

Reveling in hidden beauty

To Live is Christ

Christ Jesus, my eyes are on You

You are it for me

One and true God

Understanding and forgiving

Forgiving, loving, living

Love that fills my soul

I invite You in to stay

Vine and branches

I need You desperately

Now and always

God help me abide in You always

Always filling me, stabilizing me

My life is in You. You are my

Eternal hope.

Fear Poetic Asides

Fear Versus Faith

Fear like sludge in the veins

Paralyzes, impedes, slows down

Life in general and specifically.

Fear grips and won’t let go,

Unless faith is involved.

Faith, like a hammer,

Pounds the fingers of fear’s grip

Allowing life to flow more freely.
