Poetic Asides Trenta-sei

Beginning with Faith

I eagerly begin this year
With lots of love, belief and hope
Inviting courage, banning fear
I know, with You, I’ll always cope
No matter what will come my way
I trust You listen when I pray

With lots of love, belief and hope
I place my hand safely in Yours
Forgiveness cleans my soul like soap
Your grace will open many doors
I aim to love folks like You do
And let Your wisdom see me through

Inviting courage, banning fear
I put my confidence in You
Delighting in that You are near
And will reveal Your point of view
I have great reason to rejoice
As I discern Your still small voice

I know with You I’ll always cope
Because You teach me what is best
When troubles bind me like a rope
You set me free and give me rest
I can’t succeed at life alone
So I come boldly to Your throne

No matter what will come my way
You’re big enough to face it all
And though I stumble or I stray
I know You’ll help me when I call
You are my all and everything
You are my reason I can sing

I trust You listen when I pray
Because that’s just the way You are
I often don’t know what to say
Your Spirit is my guiding star
So with some eagerness and cheer
I look ahead to this new year

Poetic Asides ten

Things I Love

Good books and hot tea with sugar and cream
When good-hearted people work like a team
Dancing and singing and playing some tunes
Friends flying up high in hot-air balloons
Biking and hiking, exploring about
Kids being so happy, they jump and shout
Planning a trip and packing suitcases
Off to new places, seeing new faces
Drawing and painting, making some messes
Knowing a God who loves and who blesses

Poetic Asides Skeltonic Verse

New Year

The new year’s begun
Time to have fun
And be on the run
Perhaps make a pun
Until we are done
When we’re through
Don’t be blue
Do something new
And stay true
To your self
Get off the shelf
Act like an elf
With giggles and grins
Twirls and spins
Jumping and dancing
A little romancing
Ponies prancing
With some financing
Delight and discover
As truths you uncover
Laugh with your lover
Months fly by
Like jets in sky
Stop, you might try
But you’ll say goodbye
To this year soon
So shoot for the moon.

New Year Poem

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

Goodbye 2018,
you were something like
a roller coaster ride.
If I were to plot you on a graph,
we’d start at the bottom
with two eye surgeries.

We’d then begin to go up
and another whoosh down
with the flu.
Then a bit of wavy line
up and down,
preparing for our trip.

Then four weeks up to the top of the chart
with the trip to Scotland and Ireland
being so wonderful.
Then a coming back to average
and a plunge down with cellulitis
and yet another deep dive with shoulder and arm pain.

Then a slow climb up in the fall and reaching up
but not quite as high as Europe,
with a trip to Las Vegas and Mesa.
I won’t forget the loopty-loops of losing Justin
and struggling with Loren’s health,
and the plodding parts of training with Adam.

Hello 2019,
I’m eager to see what you hold.
I make my plans, but the Lord directs my steps.
So, 2019, please obey the Lord to His honor and glory.

vacation poem

Las Vegas Resort

Neatly trimmed hedges
Beige buildings
with Spanish style, red tile roofs
Birds chirping in sunshine
Trees looking winterish, summerish and fallish
Tall palms.
Taller Ferris wheel in back ground

Waiting on kids to check in.
Beautiful drive through rugged mountains
Hurry up and wait.

Poetic Bloomings Christmas wordle, Poem Away Inverted Hexaduad

A Magnificent Plan

Praise God!
His greatness, we applaud.
Oh, what a magnificent plan!
For love of man.
To send His only Son
The Holy One.
The Christ child came.
Let us sing of His fame.
Magi afar
Shepherds, angels, gold Christmas star
His greatness, we applaud.
Praise God!

Poem Away

Vacation Time

Arise
Be wise
The morning has arrived
Feeling fresh and revived
And now it’s time to start packing
And do a hundred things lacking
Get on the road
With bulky load
We’re heading for Vegas
Didn’t have to beg us
Daughter and son
Hope we’ll have fun
