Dizain

Callanish Stones

The stones of Callanish, on Lewis Isle
Appear as wise old men guarding a tomb
Yes, they’ve been standing guard for quite a while
Near five millennia through rain and gloom
Nobody knows who lies there in earth’s womb
But many hike these Scottish lands to stare
At how the monoliths were placed with care
And babies become old and then they die
And these old guards continue on in prayer
Leaving generations to ponder why
