Quatern

By Connie Shannon Peters

The Shannon River bears my name
Houses huddle along its banks
Small boats rest within its waters
The docks reach out to welcome guests

I look forward to greeting it
The Shannon River bears my name
Born and raised in Pennsylvania,
I lived along the Shannon Creek

We heard stories of the River
And Ireland of our ancestors
The Shannon River bears my name
It feels part of my family

Someday I’ll walk along its banks
Or cruise along its scenery
Wear my Shannon tee with a grin
The Shannon River bears my name
