Poetic Asides anecdote

His Unorthodox Ways

After twenty years of care-giving,
my house had taken a beating
and I was praying about remodeling
and the finances it would take.

I also prayed about taking time
to clear out the junk in the crawl space.
When I came home from vacation,
my house had flooded from a broken hose.

It destroyed the carpet and linoleum in five rooms.
The crawl space was soaked and everything
had to be brought up and gone through.
Insurance would pay for work and repairs.

And God said, “Here you go.”
