Summer Love

He plans to leave by light of the full moon.
They had to end excuses and delays.
So sad their parting had to come so soon.
They feel the pull and weight of their malaise.

The seven months have come and gone too fast.
The checks and balances of life caught up.
They figured love this great would surely last.
They learned the beauty of their loving cup.

They’d miss the access of each other’s hearts.
And now they’d house their loneliness and pain.
Alas the summer ends and their ache starts.
They tell each other their love will remain.

But as he goes he crosses love from list.
She doesn’t know she really won’t be missed.
