PA Compulsion

The Big, Green Truck

Mama and Papa Fairy said,
“Doodles, Noodles and Snickerdoodles,
don’t ever go near the Big People.
No way, no how, no time!”

But one day, their ball sailed over the tall wall.
Snickerdoodles flew over the wall to get his ball.
He peeked in the window of the Big People’s house
and saw a big, green truck, just the right size for fairies.

Oh, how Snickerdoodles would love to take a ride!
The next day, and the next, and the next
he would—oops—throw his ball over the tall wall
and peek in the window to see the big, green truck.

One night, he talked Doodles and Noodles
into going on a grand adventure to the house.
“No way, no how, no time, should we go there,”
said Doodles. But it would be fun, so they went.

The little Big Person was fast asleep in his bed.
Snickerdoodles climbed into the big, green truck.
Doodles and Noodles pushed the big, green truck,
their little wings fluttering fast as could be.

Next, Doodles took a turn riding, and then Noodles.
And then Snickerdoodles rode again.
He was having so much fun, when suddenly,
the door opened and in walked a big Big Person.

“Why is David’s truck in the middle of the floor?”
Noodles and Doodles flew out the window.
Snickerdoodles ducked down.
The big, Big Person picked up the big, green truck.

Snickerdoodles hung on for dear life.
He fell this way and that inside the big, green truck.
Would the Big Person see him? Finally,
he set the big, green truck and Snickerdoodles down.

Snickerdoodles’ wing was bent.
He had a bump on his head.
And his arm hurt, but he made it back
to his cozy home in the forest.

And no way, no how and at no time
did he ever go near the Big People again.
