As a Gift
Yesterday my friend and I
walked in Parque de Vida.
We took in the Colorado blue sky
punctuated with full grayish clouds,
the snow in the distant mountains,
the distinct creases in the mesas.
The planted trees reached up in golden glory
or succumbed to brownness and bareness.
They were all lovely, though, since it was time.
The fountain bubbled in the goose pond.
Some geese tentatively crossed the busy street.
I often wonder why they risk their lives
when they could fly.
Are we humans like that in some ways?
My friend and I took it all in as a gift
from our loving Creator Father.
